Goolwa Activities
As Cittaslow Goolwa develops, more activities and events will be created. Ideas will be promoted as we work together to provide quality of life for all Goolwa and hinterland residents and businesses and make visitors welcome. Some of the activities include:Cittaslow Goolwa Promotional activities
- SA Great Fleurieu and Kangaroo Island Regional Awards nominations in both 2007 and 2008
- Winner of the 2008 Australia Day Community Event of the Year for the Cittaslow accreditation program
- First South Australian registered electric car, built by Edward Booth, and used to promote Cittaslow and alternative energy at shows and displays
- Award winner for Cittaslow Cycling Sculpture for the 2008 Australian Tour Down Under and part of the Silver Award winning Best Dressed Town in 2010.
- Local Artisans' demonstrations and displays at the 2007 Goolwa Alive festival
- Local Food and Wine displays, tastings and sales at Goolwa Alive
- Fleurieu Field Days – recruitment and publicity, Electric cars, local artisans, alternative energy
- Energy Fair, Victor Harbor – electric cars on display
- Release of annual Cittaslow Diary beginning in 2009; The Cittaslow Goolwa Calendar from 2010; The Citttaslow Goolwa Community Garden Cookbook 2010
- The introduction of a Cittaslow Wine program to promote local wine produce and recognition of local characteristics with a Cittaslow neck tag for use on wine and other bottles
- Regular presentations on local radio, Alex-FM
- Degustation dinner to promote local produce, launch the Cittaslow Wine program and to raise funds and awareness for Cittaslow Goolwa
- Cittaslow Goolwa Great Smoke Off event at Ballast Stone Winery
- Involvement with the SA Wooden Boat Festival held each odd year in Goolwa
- Preparation of this website for Cittaslow Goolwa
- World Cittaslow Sunday - last Sunday of September
- Stomp Off at opening of Signal Point
