Cittaslow and Coronavirus
Alexandrina Council has now put in
place a range of measures to keep the community, including volunteers,
safe during the Coronavirus pandemic (see alexandrina.sa.gov.au Update
on Coronavirus Community Services Announcement as of 19.03.20).
In line with these, Cittaslow has implemented the following changes from Saturday 21 March until further notice.
Cittaslow Corner
will be closed to visitors and members of the public. No organised
meetings or gatherings involving groups of volunteers will be held there
during that time.
Community Garden
premises are closed to meetings and gatherings. The Garden volunteers
have organised a roster for individuals to maintain garden beds during
this period.
Organised Group meetings/gatherings including the Food and Wine Group and the Environment Group
will be cancelled until further notice.
The How To sessions are on hold until further notice.
The Farmers Market
operated on Sunday 22nd March and the viability of
future markets will be reviewed depending on agreement with vendors and
public interest. Additional measures re handwashing and information
about social distancing (at least 1.5 meters from other members of the
public) are exercised. This is in line with information from the
Farmers Market Association Australia.
Activities such as the Fruit Forest and Jekejeri Park working group can continue. These are conducted outdoors and involve either individual volunteers or small groups. Social distancing needs to be practiced throughout.
Please note:
The suspension
of Cittaslow activity as outlined above is implemented to reduce the
potential exposure to the Coronavirus for volunteers and the public.
Individual members and volunteers may choose to gather in their own
homes or in other venues but they are advised to exercise all of the
recommended precautions such as handwashing and social distancing.
