Core Program Blue.JPG"How to" Program

“How To” sessions and events provide Cittaslow members the opportunity to acquire new knowledge and skills and to develop social links with other members.

Ideas for the content of these sessions come from suggestions based on member interests. Occasionally local artisans, food producers and crafts people are invited to lead these sessions. More often however, sessions are led by members themselves who are willing to share their life experiences, handicrafts, skills and knowledge with the rest of us.

Some of the sessions held to date include culturing sourdough for bread baking, cheese making and a day-long effort of some 30 volunteers to produce 150 bottles of tomato passata sauce from locally grown tomatoes.

Sessions and events are planned throughout the year.

“ … towns where people are curious about times past, towns rich in theatre, cafes, workshops, restaurants and spiritual places, towns with untouched landscapes and fascinating craftsmen, where people are still aware of the slow passing of the seasons, marked by genuine products, respecting tastes, health and spontaneous customs.”
